Learning Curves

You probably noticed that things have been on the quiet side around here (I’ve missed you!) Over the holiday break, I took some time to reflect/think about the future of Heart of Chic. In all honesty, I haven’t felt inspired as of late. I had a few setbacks (which are all part of learning/growing) and decided to take some time away to re-evaluate.

Don’t get me wrong, 2016 was a year for the books — I got to work with some incredible brands, and exceeded my financial goals. Cool, right? I also got married, purchased my first house + got a puppy! Whew! I need a vacation, ha. PS: I still owe you guys some wedding photos, that’s also coming very soon!

I decided that 2017 is indeed my year, so I’m striving to put the very best in front of you (and myself). I have something very exciting in the works, and cannot wait to share more of that soon, like super soon. This change is exactly what I need to propel forward, and take things to the next level. I’m really excited, and it’s just what I need to reignite the magic around here. Side note: It’s easy to feel guilty about taking a break, but sometimes, it’s important to step away and look in. It didn’t feel fair to post when I was lacking inspiration and creativity. You guys deserve so much more.

In my mini-absence, I had some big takeaways that I wanted to share with you:

  • COMPARISON: I had to take an IG time-out, since I was constantly comparing my success to others. It’s easy to get lost in the ‘feed’ of so many amazing bloggers/personalities. I honestly felt lost, and ultimately started doubting myself. I had to re-strategize, and work on improving my content. We all have a special piece to bring to the party — We can all make it.
  • SUPPORT: I’m very fortunate to have a supportive husband who’s my biggest fan. I’ve also met some incredible friends along my journey. My biggest takeaway of all though? I don’t need anyone else but myself to succeed. Be your own biggest fan, always.
  • ORGANIZATION: Organization is key. Content calendars, email management, pitching, social media — all of it! Crucial. With the help of some amazing apps/calendar management systems (will share a post on this soon) I’m already feeling so much more confident in the content I’m delivering. Oh, and I’m not scrambling to get content up!
  • DON’T BE AFRAID: This year, I’m taking a new approach to content. I have some really exciting ideas in the works, and I think you guys are going to be really surprised! I seriously cannot wait to share more!

It’s totally normal to get in a funk (so many bloggers go through it!) It’s a vital part of how we grow, and I’m grateful for the learning curves. It’s also important to keep things fresh. I’m incredibly excited to get back in the swing of things — Thanks for sticking through it with me! So grateful for all of you! xx

what made you happy today?
