Tips & Tricks to Blow-drying | Elchim

elchim hair dryer review

Don’t you just love the glow in your hair after your stylist blow-dries you? So much bounce and shine — not to mention how healthy! Unfortunately, for many of us, these occurrences are very far in-between. As much as we’d enjoy sitting in a chair most days glammin’ it up like the Kardashians, it just isn’t reality. Today, I’m sharing some tips & tricks to drying like the professionals at home, and guess what — it’s not at all difficult.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to buy a quality blow dryer! (I repeat, worth the splurge!) I’m so guilty of buying whatever I see on sale without any proper research. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that this makes all of the difference in the health of your hair. Seriously, you guys, it’s never felt better. I know this sounds incredibly cliche, but advanced technology does wonders. Not only does it lengthen locks, but it maintains nutrients to ensure strength.

WORTH THE SPLURGE

So, what’s my weapon of choice? The Milano Cermaic Dryer by Elchim. Yup, straight out of Italy, ya’ll! (Those people know hair, trust me). Not only has the Elchim dryer been awarded ‘Allure’s Best’ and ‘Best Beauty Buy’ for inStyle Magazine, but the technology is unparalleled. It also has been proven to provide more heat and pressure than a traditional dryer (perfect for thick hair, stubborn hair like mine), and can tackle all hair types — bring on my fellow frizzies! I also like how compact it is, and the design is super chic. You know, just an added bonus! Ha. The dryer is currently available at Ulta so I encourage you all to try it! KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

This is an easy one to forget, especially when you’re on-the-go and in a hurry. Make sure to keep the hair dryer at least 8 inches away from your hair. If you apply a lot of heat directly to your scalp, it will remove proper nutrients for maintaining the strength/health.

WASH YOUR HAIR ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK

I was recently at an event with Kristin Cavallari and she admitted to only washing her hair once a week. Don’t worry, she bathes! (You know how those tabloids are!) She said it’s the key to keeping her hair so silky, and shiny — Her celebrity hair artist also recommends this. I’m also a fan of a one week wash. I know this sounds gross, but if you’re utilizing the proper shampoo/drying — it will stay healthy all week long. You can also spray some dry shampoo throughout, too. Again, I’m not saying to refrain from bathing (that’s important!) but keep your hair untouched. I guarantee you’ll notice growth and health in no time.

USE HEAT PROTECTANT

Again, utilizing the proper hair-care will ensure health. I personally recommend the Kerastase line. They are life changing!!!  If you guys have any more questions, definitely send me a message and I’m happy to answer. They have so many products now.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING

It’s easy to go for the blow dryer as soon as you step out of the shower, but it’s important to wait at least 15 minutes. I personally love using a towel turban, you can find them almost anywhere now. This saves effort and cuts down unnecessary exposure to heat.

YOU’RE SO COOL

Once you’re down blow drying, apply a stream of cool air. The cooling gives your hair more elasticity and shine. Cool!
